WinePodz Portable Cellar Systems
 Background:
WinePodz is what happens when a wine store owner / mechanical engineer meets a HVAC technician / Sea Bee. The idea stemmed from a need to store a
nice wine collection, but didn’t have the time / money / patience to build an addition onto the house and didn’t want to go through the permit
process to build an addition onto the house, yet wanted the wine to be well kept and secure. The use of a shipping container for storage has
been around for a long time, so why not add a climate control system and some custom racking. That was the initial concept which grew into
WinePodz, a self-contained, stylish, portable, wine cellar and tasting room.
Description:
A WinePodz cellar system is currently designed to lay down over 1000 bottles,
yet still have ample space for a tasting area (see floor plan). A variety of
bottle sizes can be accommodated and with a mini split climate control system
your wine investment and collection will be cellared properly at 55º Fahrenheit.
The Box:
A modified 20’ storage container is used for the foundation of cellar system. It is heavily insulated with an insulation value of R-30.
The unit is fully weatherproofed, sealed, and painted. A durable climate control system is added along with electrical fixtures and
outlets. Wine racks are then anchored into the rear of the cellar and a translucent partition is added. Finally a security system
and power door open finishes the system. Many exterior finishes can be added to customize your cellar. (see exterior pics here)
 The Guts:
The dual mini split climate control system is retrofitted into the cellar to maintain a constant temperature. The climate control is
run at standard 110 volts. This can be connected to an existing utility panel or can be run off of a gasoline power generator or
solar panels. The racking is custom made to fit into the container and will elegantly display / store/ protect your wine investment.
Several wood choices are available (Pine, Redwood, Mahogany, & Oak)
The Tasting Area:
Not only is the WinePodz Cellar a storage system. It is also a showroom for your collection and a tasting room to enjoy your favorite
vino. The glass partition allows visibility of your collection from the tasting area and can be decorated to suit your every need. (see interior pics here)
A WinePodz cellar is durable and secure. The container is made from corrugated steel and the insulation is an R value of 30. The mini
split system is warranted for five years and can be serviced by your local HVAC technician or by calling your WinePodz representative.
The keypad at the exterior door is a combination lock and it activates the power door opener. No need to wrestle with the giant steel doors.
Another advantage of the WinePodz Cellar is that is portable, because a shipping container is utilized it can be moved anywhere on the
planet. For you this means your investment and collection can travel with you as you changes homes.
